What your packaging sample should prove

Approving a sample means agreeing what was checked, what remains open and which version is approved.

Fit and removal

Use the actual product where practical. Check cap clearance, product movement, contact points and whether the bottle can be removed without damaging the presentation.

Opening and closure

Check alignment, lid or tray clearance, closure feel and repeat operation. A closure feature does not by itself establish transport protection.

Appearance and artwork

Review print content, alignment, finish and physical colour references. An unprinted structural sample cannot approve print colour.

Packing and protection

Review the complete packing system and intended transport conditions. Record the test method and outcome where testing is required; a display sample is not a transport test.

The approval record

Identify the artwork and dieline versions, sample reference, review date, approved features and outstanding changes. Confirm whether another sample is needed before production.
